B2K Development Hosts NYC College of Technology Students at Astoria Construction Site

B2K Development welcomed students from the New York City College of Technology (NYCCT) at their Astoria, NY project site in January.

NYCCT is a CUNY campus, where students can major in architecture, construction management technology, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering, among others areas of study.

Students who are part of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) club at NYCCT were welcomed to a site walkthrough. The CMAA is a professional association that offers a variety of resources for construction industry professionals, including standard guidelines for construction managers to evaluate and manage technology.

B2K Development partners with local universities to provide educational opportunities to students who are passionate about building management and construction. Assistant Project Manager Margaruite Bynum indicated that continuing to train and educate is an integral part of the B2K Development culture. “From the day I entered the industry, I have been surrounded by colleagues who took the time to teach me and share their expertise.” She now does the same for those she supervises.

Following the walk-through, students attended a presentation from the B2K Development project team, led by Bynum, Arsen Duverger, and John Polsinelli.

The trip was coordinated by B2K Development Assistant Project Manager, Kelly Gardner, a graduate of NYCCT. Gardner echoed Bynum’s sentiment that inspiring the next generation of construction professionals is integral to B2K Development’s mission.
