Renovated Uniondale Community Center Unveiled
The renovation and refurnishing of the John J. Byrne Community Center in Uniondale, NY was sponsored and facilitated by B2K Development, Las Vegas Sands, and Waldner’s Business Environments.
In July 2023, the group acquired the building, pledging to renovate the facility and enable the thriving center to enrich its offerings. The community center now features updated meeting rooms and conference rooms, for community groups to host birthday parties, holiday events, wellness groups, and more.
The John J. Byrne Community Center has been an “intergenerational, multicultural, and multi-service” hub for over 30 years. Operated by the Uniondale Neighborhood Center, Inc., the community center has been offering innovative STEM programming, wellness initiatives, mentoring and support groups, and community advocacy.
David Greaves, President of the John J. Byrne Community Center, said that the center is “more than just a building. It’s a cornerstone of our community.”
According to Yvonne Dailey, secretary of the center, the future looks bright. “Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for Uniondale residents by providing a space dedicated to learning, growth and community engagement.” Improvements for upgraded technology and security as well as more space for recreational and community gatherings are planned for the coming months.
On August 1st, community members and business leaders toured the newly renovated space. A plaque commemorating the sponsors’ contributions was unveiled and displayed on the community center’s donor recognition tree.
